With so many human challenges in our world today, how are we to make the world a better place? Have you pondered that question lately? When anger in politics, divisive words on social media, and crippling inflation makes life worse for so many of us; some, very desperate for basic needs, what can anyone do? Is there a global size solution a majority of people can agree upon?

Journey Community Christian Church in Cynthiana is wrapping up a short series this weekend, IRRESISTIBLE, things Jesus said. This might be just the sort of discussion you’ve been looking for. We’ve discovered 4 main topics and words which dominated Jesus conversations with people like us, found in Matthew 5-7 of the Bible. Jesus gave simple every-day-walk-a round sort of ways to make things better.
He asked his listeners to elevate our HOPE, GENEROSITY, MERCY, and COMPASSION with others; all others. No matter your politics, economic circumstances, ethnic background, social status, marital status, age, family size, or place of origin - Jesus asks us to be nicer people. This doesn’t require a person who is regular each weekend in a church gathering. Jesus offers common sense to everyone listening. Jesus says, “This is do-able.”
No matter our heartburn with trending topics, unclear, uncertain leadership in the world, Jesus changes everything.
In the Bible, to the surprise of the many and multitudes who listened, Jesus was different, in a God Way; Good News, Way. Jesus explained He knew what He was doing. His heavenly Father had sent him to earth. His mission was to bring people, all kinds, together. How? With His teaching and then His sacrifice, death on the Cross, and resurrection. Thousands were converted, changed, surrendered, and baptized to share Jesus Good News with everyone.
Jesus' message of irresistible change, irresistible words of caring and kindness, are possible for everyone. For many, this seemed too good to be true until Easter morning. When God raised Jesus from the grave, 3 day later, even the soldiers, skeptics, and doubters proclaimed, "this Man is different, He is the Son of God!"
“If anything good happens in the world, it’s from Jesus.” Amy Grant
Whatever is trending, on your mind this morning, let’s partner with Jesus. Let’s figure out what He meant, making things better. See you in-person and online at Journey Church as we wrap up the current series, with final outline: making Jesus' compassion irresistible.
