Life: A Beautiful Thing

Have you noticed the calendar this morning? Welcome to August. Earlier this morning, I was having breakfast in the sunroom. As sun began to brighten the morning, I began noticing a little rabbit family - dad, mom, and smaller squirt playing, frolicking in our back yard. The little guy was small and mom was nudging him with her nose to explore our big backyard. Pretty cool dad and mom rabbit moment… in the brand new awakening world.

This reminded me of the calendar. Next Thursday in our local community is the first official day of school. Dads and moms everywhere will be dropping off their little guys and girls at schools; some, for the first time. I can imagine little guys and girls clinging to mom and dad, then mom nudging them (like the little rabbit) to go, explore this big new campus called kindergarten and elementary school. Pictures will be taken for history. Pretty cool moment, each fall, starting of a new school year.

I’ve asked Bryan Martinez, Youth Minister, to share a back-to-school message this weekend at Journey Church. We want to encourage and support you as parents/grandparents, letting go. I’ve seen Bryan’s message outline and manuscript. This is going to be a winner for items on your back-to-school shopping lists.

Grab a seat and bring a friend who is feeling a bit anxious about school beginning again, so soon. Journey is the kind of place most people find relevant and helpful words for our everyday life. We really are better together. Take some pictures of your kids before they go out the door facing a brand new school year. Before these little guys and girls launch, join us Journey inside and online -  Sat@6pm and Sun@10:30am for a few parenting tips to consider.

This may be the best hour you schedule into your final planning for back-to-school success. Let’s do this. Bring a smile and let go of the first-day jitters. God is with us. Even as the bell rings for a new school year. Share the invite with others. PARENTING ON PURPOSE - this may be exactly what we are needing.

2024 School Year. It’s going to be a beautiful, thing. Teachers, parents, and students… with God guiding us forward: We got this.

Go God.
