How do you make important decisions? Do you consult professionals? Do you research the internet? Do you have a team of people to trust? Do you have a supervisor you’re confident to go to? Many people use family members as a sounding board. People I know use consultants like these before making life decisions. This seems to be a wise strategy.
Let me ask another question: Have you ever been in a situation where you had a strong feeling about something but didn’t go-for-it? Maybe your “team” was advising you against it? A close friend may have talked you out of it? Eventually, you gave in to the group. Later, you became frustrated when your instinct was actually spot-on. Making important decisions is tricky.
Making GOD decisions and being BOLD is also tricky. When friends and family are not in support of our choice for God’s values, what can we do? This weekend we wrap up our series, BOLD. We’ve been taking a look at how early church followers of Jesus found their sweet spot; pushing back fear with faith, becoming BOLD in a God kind of way.
In this final message we discover the take-aways for bold obedience. Listening to God, trusting the Holy Spirit, then going with our “gut and God instincts” in spite of push back from others in the room is the Jesus WAY to go. Have you ever felt like we’re always having to defend our “God perspective”? Jesus followers were always having to do this before Jesus and the Cross. Is there a better way than just being angry with people who disagree? Maybe???
Join us this weekend in-person and online. We have several options. Journey Church Sat@6pm and Sun@10:30am are times to consider. Maybe you want to check out archived messages on YouTube, FB, or our Journey website at www.journeychurchsite.org.
BOLD action has a very predictable reaction. Not everyone will support us. Is it possible we articulate BOLD Jesus words without making everyone angry??? Sometimes??? Let’s be honest. Defending our Bible values, no matter the cost (Mt 10:5-40; 16:24) is our God assignment (Mt 28:18-20). 1st century Jesus church people became an unstoppable force in the world. Followers took the Jesus Way: love & kindness, grace & mercy, forgiveness for everyone willing to accept Jesus (1 Peter 3:15) the Good News (I Cor 15:1-4).
Still, the Jesus message wasn’t always received with an open mind. Early church followers of Jesus got arrested and punished severely. Eventually, they were martyred for their faith. This was not a watered down Gospel of Jesus. Tell the Truth… in love. Jesus requires surrender to His authority and the Bible (Acts 2:38). We have to tell the Truth.
Bottom line: no matter resistance, we still present Gods Truth to everyone (Jn 3:16). We have a choice. We can play it safe or seize the risky life (not everyone agrees with you). This is not an easy thing. It is the right thing. Jesus says so. Go God.
Join us for the weekend and help us celebrate baptisms. If you are also ready for this part of your Jesus story, let’s us know. We can get you ready.
Go with your gut. Always, Go with God!
